"Masterpiece" Wins Honors!

VerticalBlu is currently promoting their latest short film, "Masterpiece," produced during the IFP 48hr Film Challenge. Filmed during the summer of 2010, "Masterpiece" won 3 awards including "3rd Place," "Best Story," & "Best Actress- Laura Durant."

This 3-minute film was a collaboration of people including Director Daniel Gourley, Producer Joy Daniel, Writer Cori Orlowski, and Cinematographer Webb Pickersgill (2009 AZ Filmmaker of the Year). The film includes a paintbrush as a prop, the words "I'm so hungry" in the dialogue, and falls under the genre of "Sci-Fi."

VerticalBlu is currently entering the film into festivals nationwide and would like to thank the entire cast and crew who participated on the project. "Making a film in 2 days is difficult enough, but producing one of this caliber and quality is a combination of Arizona's most talented film makers and actors," says director Daniel Gourley.

Verticalblu is also looking forward to competing in the IFP 48hr Film Challenges this November 2010 and January of 2011. Placement in the top six qualifies the film as a "potential selection" for the Phoenix Film Festival. Last year, VerticalBlu's entry, "The Treehouse", took home "Best Cinematography" and "Audience Choice" awards, and was shown at the Phoenix Film Festival in April of 2010.
